My educational experiences in elementary and middle school reflect on Anyon's observations to a certain extent. Teachers did seem like they were very limited in what they taught us and everything had to be in the right order. In math for example, our teacher would have us do the problems on the board and he would watch silently until we were done. Even if we had the right answer but didn't do the correct steps, he would make us re-do the whole problem.
In what ways do your educational experiences contradict Anyon's observations?
Back in elementary/middle school, even though the teachers seemed to limit what they teach, they still seemed to care a lot about the students. I remember all my teachers telling us to work hard and do our best to prepare ourselves for high school and college. They didn't seem like they were trying to keep us in our social-economic divisions in anyway. They encouraged and pushed us to be all we could be.
